In Every Thing Give Thanks

This song was written by Dr. Baker for his kids. Growing up is not always an easy thing to experience. One common characteristic of kids, though, is that they tend to whine and complain fairly easily. (Unfortunately so do many adults!) Little things in life can trigger these whine sessions like a brother taking one's toy airplane away or "gasp" a fly landing within three feet of one's shadow.

God knows about our tendency to complain and whine and tells us in I Thessalonians 5:18, "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." The Baker children are reminded often of God's admonition to always give thanks even in the seemingly "dark" times. We need to live a life of thanksgiving because of what God has done for us. The "dark" times pale into insignificance when we contemplate the greatness and significance of His gift! Then we truly can give thanks in everything for the great and small things God sends into our lives. "For we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according the His purpose." Romans 8:28. Thank God we can truly be "Livin' For The Call!"
