Let It Fall...
I was in the middle of a very trying time, and I felt like so much of what I had been striving for was being pulled right out from under me. I began to realize that I was holding so tightly to what I thought was mine and that I really needed to release my grip and let God have control of the situation. Of course, He already has control of everything all the time, but it’s just a matter of our wanting to control things sometimes that robs us of our peace. I got together to write one day with a wonderful co-writer, John Mathis. He and his family are precious friends to my husband, Tom, and me. He had just been through something very similar to what I had gone through, and we began talking about how we were feeling very displaced, and how apprehensive we were about the future. John said that he just kept praying, “Lord, if everything falls, just let it fall into place”. Obviously, that became the hook of the song, and I really think the song is very special to both John and me. It recalls for me, personally, a time when God really revealed Himself to me during a writing session. The song is a prayer that was certainly prayed by us, as writers, and hopefully, it will become the prayer of those who hear and receive the song.
